Be Responsible with Your Prescription Medications.

  • Keep them in a safe and secure location.
  • Take only as prescribed.
  • Properly dispose of them when no longer needed. Never flush medications down a toilet or drain.
  • Make cleaning out your medication cabinets a regular part of household clean-up.
  • Be aware of critical times to lock up and monitor medications. Such as before hosting an event or party in your home or accumulation of medications following a procedure or illness.
  • To prepare medications for disposal keep them in their original container and black out personal information.
  • Do not place sharps/needles in the drug take-back box.
  • Discuss proper disposal of chemotherapy drugs with your pharmacist.

Medications that are no longer needed can lead to unintentional or accidental poisoning, particularly among children, senior citizens, and pets; increased risk that these medications may be stolen, misused, or cause environmental problems.  Please take advantage of this free opportunity available in both Norman and Mahnomen counties.
