Drug Free Communities Grant
Drug Free Communities (DFC) Grant
The mission of CADCA (Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America) is to strengthen the capacity of community coalitions to create and maintain safe, healthy and drug-free communities globally. This is accomplished by providing technical assistance and training, public policy advocacy, media strategies and marketing programs, training and special events. Within our own communities/counties, we have the IMPACT Coalition group.
The IMPACT Coalition addresses substance abuse in Norman and Mahnomen Counties by assessing the scope of the problem and developing plans to implement sustainable, prevention strategies that will reduce substance abuse among youth and adults in the local population. The group has three goals:
- Reduce substance abuse among youth and adults by identifying and reducing the risk factors that contribute to substance abuse and strengthening the factors that protect youth from substance abuse.
- Serve as a forum that will promote collaboration among multiple sectors of local communities.
- Develop and/or adopt multiple prevention strategies to address the problem of substance abuse in the bi-county area.
On November 8, 2017, The IMPACT Coalition held a community forum. Below is the live feed from that night.
On February 7, 2018, the IMPACT Coalition held a community forum at the Shooting Star Casino. Below is the live feed from that night.
In the summer of 2019, we held six picnics in six different communities to spread the word about prevention and also make all aware of the variety of substance abuse prevention, treatment services, and resources.
